About Paganlion

The “Paganlion” is the adopted name of the Southend Moot, in Essex and it is a friendly group for Pagans of any path.

The Paganlion is a moot that is aligned with the causes of Pagan Federation (http://www.paganfed.org/) and is not an affiliated Moot cos PF don’t have affiliated Moots anymore.

The meeting is on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. It is an organised event with a theme and normally a speaker. The Paganlion meets a the Balmoral Community Centre, Salisbury Ave, Westcliff on Sea, Essex SS0 7AU.

A Moot is defined variously as a meeting, an ancient English court, a debate or discussion. The term comes from Anglo Saxon, Icelandic and Old English roots. The word suits the purpose of the gathering, so Pagan groups tend to use it! – “let’s face it, Southend Pagan Court would conjure up images that would be less than honest” 🙂

We usually arrive at 7.30pm for an 8ish start. It will cost you £3 to get in (can be a bit more if it’s a special speaker) but your first visit is free! The evenings talk is normally punctuated a half time by the “legendary” Southend Moot re-cycled raffle !

The “Paganlion” also holds Open Rituals to celebrate the major Pagan festivals. We’ll do our best to advertise these on facebook (using group events)
